Prior to founding Links Capital, Ron was a Partner in a middle market private equity fund with offices in Calgary and Vancouver. Ron’s responsibilities included leading transactions and managing investments throughout Western Canada. The fund’s primary focus was investing in working capital expansions, management buyouts, acquisitions, divestitures and turnarounds of mid-market companies. Ron’s expertise in management buyouts, acquisitions and divestitures has been further enhanced when he was solely responsible of a specialized banking institution’s management buyout fund in Western Canada. Other past executive experience includes being a member on the investment committee of a private equity fund, investment banking in the US and sitting on various boards as a director in the financial, forest by-products, manufacturing, wholesaling, retail, and oilfield service industries.

Ron has the Chartered Financial Analyst designation with the CFA Institute as well as the Corporate Finance designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Ron has passed the U.S. National Association of Securities Dealers Series 7 & 63 examinations and has been designated as a Portfolio Manager by the Alberta Securities Commission.

Michael Cook, CA, CBV mcook@linkscap.com

Michael has several years experience in the private equity, corporate finance and general corporate fields. Prior to joining Links Capital, he worked with a large holding company where he was responsible for management of an industrial business as well as the expansion of real estate investments. He has also worked with an independent private equity fund with offices in Calgary and Vancouver. Michael’s responsibilities included growing the firm’s presence in the Alberta market as well as in the structuring and managing of mezzanine and equity financings. His expertise in all aspects of business valuation and corporate finance was developed over several years working with both the M&A group of a major accounting firm and a boutique M&A firm. Michael has worked on deal structuring and execution and conducted business valuations for transactions over a broad spectrum of industries.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree as well as Chartered Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator designations.
